Dating back to the 1700s when it was built as a corn mill, the original buildings have now been converted, retaining many of the original features of its industrial past and are now a wonderfully spacious holiday home with plenty of room to get together, celebrate and play in the large communal areas, but still with space to find a quiet corner. Relax in the tranquil surroundings of the garden, enjoy its flowing stream and wildlife, explore the island, soak up some sun or dine al fresco on the patio or terraces.
The Watermill is located in the centre of a quiet village offering excellent facilities, with two pubs, a cafe and shop all within easy walking distance. With a regular bus service into Lincoln city and plenty of opportunities to walk around the village and surrounding area, you could enjoy a complete break from driving!
Best suited to large families or friends get-togethers in need of plenty of space, please be aware that, as a converted corn mill set over four floors, this wonderful venue to meet up is unfortunately unsuitable for wheelchair users or individuals with mobility issues. The garden, a haven for wildlife and a great place for older children to play, does have the original millstream running through it, so younger children and dogs who love water, do need adult supervision. However, the enclosed terrace area makes an ideal safe place to play for younger and four legged members of your party.
Come and stay, relax, make yourselves at home and fall in love with The Watermill.
Formerly known as Park Mill, the Watermill is situation in the heart of the quiet Lincolnshire village of Heighington, yet only 3 miles from the city of Lincoln with all its historic attractions. The original building dates back to the 1740s and was extended during the war, when Lincolnshire stone was not available, hence the brick-built top floor.
Sadly the old waterwheel was removed sometime towards the end of the 19th century, but the millrace is still very much in evidence and can be viewed through a glass panel in the floor of what is now the kitchen.
It remained a very busy working corn mill, owned by the local Curtis family and latterly sold to Rank Hovis McDougall, who transferred the business to nearby Bracebridge Heath in the early 1980s. At this point, it was sold to be converted to a private dwelling when the more modern two storey front of the building was constructed from the existing lorry loading bays.
It has since been lovingly restored and further converted to provide a spacious five bedroomed house to accommodate up to 10 adults and a couple of children or infants, the ideal venue for your long awaited get together.
Please come inside to experience the luxurious and spacious accommodation that awaits you....
